King’s Cross activity centre launches hunt for local heroes A competition launches this week to find and celebrate the special achievements of people living in Kings Cross. Open to adults, young people and children, the Community VIPs competition has been organised by One KX – a major new arts, health and activity centre for the people of Kings Cross. Winners of the competition will be invited to ‘cut the One KX ribbon’ at the official opening ceremony for the centre - which is located on the corner of Judd Street and Cromer Street – on Saturday 23 June. Nominations are being sought for individuals of any age who have achieved in any way – big or small. It could be a personal act of courage, an achievement of something special or unusual, or a positive contribution they have made to the life or lives of others. All suitable nominations will be recognised in the form of an exhibition staged for the opening of One KX. A wide variety of activities and performances – including music, plays, dance and fitness workouts – will also be held in the centre throughout the day of the launch. One KX Director, Arti Nanda, said: “One KX is for the people of Kings Cross and what better way to mark its opening than recognising and celebrating the talents and achievements of members of our community.”
