King’s Cross girls group invites new members

Teenage girls in King’s Cross get the chance to join in a whole host of activities ranging from street dance to health and beauty sessions, fashion design and cheerleading.

The girls’ group at One KX meet weekly to take part in fun and sociable activities and always welcome new members.

“After consultation with around 70 girls, we developed a programme of taster sessions on a whole host of activities to see what response we got. We have an activity for an hour followed by a chill out session,“ said Stuart Woods, the Children and Youth Programme Manager at the Centre, “The programme was then developed further in consultation with the girls who attended, to ensure we are providing activities that are what young people actually want and not what we think they want. We welcome any girls between 11 and 15 to come along and give it a try – there’s no obligation to come back but many do!”

A local fashion designer, Giaroye is currently hosting sessions which are looking at designing and personalising clothes, logos and prints.

The group meets every Friday evening at the One KX Centre on Cromer Street  from 5-7pm. During the Easter Holidays girls will get the chance to try out their photography skills as part of a partnership project funded by The London Transport Museum.
