One KX is a key part of Central YMCA; one of the largest charities in the local area and also the world’s founding YMCA, established in 1844. One KX was reopened five years ago, with financial support secured as part of a successful fundraising campaign and also the passion of the local community and a dedicated staff and volunteer team. We are proud that this commitment has seen the centre become a valued part of the vibrant King’s Cross community.

Central YMCA aims to ensure that One KX retains and develops its place at the heart of the neighbourhood for generations to come and to this end we have recently completed a thorough review of the services we offer and their positive impact within the community.

As a result, we believe there is scope to develop a range of new and innovative programmes that will run alongside some of our historic activities. We remain fully committed to elements of our existing work, particularly the popular children and youth programmes. In fact, we intend to increase the scale of work in these areas by offering more opportunities to explore the arts, digital, technology and science. The new programme was launched in April 2012.

We are also developing new partnerships with other children and youth agencies within Camden, in a similar way that we have with Dance United, a contemporary dance group who are now based at One KX and seek to transform young peoples’ lives through contemporary dance. Having a resident Dance company will offer added value to our refreshed studio programme which will have a stronger dance influence.

In addition, Y Touring, Central YMCA’s theatre company resident at OneKX will continue to create unique theatre of debate productions engaging and inspring young people in Camden schools and beyond.

The Café will continue to offer good food at low prices while our versatile spaces at One KX remain available for hire and community events. We look forward to making your events memorable!
